Archaelund ❯ Lore ❯ Timeline
During the Imperial Era, years were numbered according to the Imperial Calendar (IC). After the arrival of the Horrors and the fall of the Empire in 4214 IC, a new calendar was established, counting the years After the Exile (AE).
The following timeline shows the major events since the Exile according to the official Archaelund setting guide. But since the game is still in Early Access, there may be revisions in the future.
| 1 AE | The Fall of the Empire and the Exile to Varannar. The Exiles try to elect a new Emperor, but old rivalries make it impossible. Exiled Kingdoms of Varsilia and Mercia are proclaimed. |
| 3 AE | Foundation of the Kingdoms of Ilmara and Thuram in the northern regions of Varannar. |
| 21 AE | First war between Varsilia and Mercia for the control of the Bluemist valley. |
| 25 AE | Pariahs, corsairs and war deserters gather in the islands in southern Varannar. Years later this will evolve into the loose federation known as the Corsair Princes and the town of Friguld. |
| 49 AE | Legions of Mercia conquer Kingsbridge and Fögas, and march to besiege the Varsilian capital of New Garand. The siege lasts five months but is broken. |
| 58 AE | The Red Plague strikes Varannar, forcing the Mercian Legions to retreat and end the war. Kingsbridge and Fögas revolt and return to Varsilian and Ilmaran control. |
| 91 AE | Geldryn survivors reach the surface of the Andorian region later known as Archaelund, and realize the Horrors are gone. They begin building their first Nedolen communities. |
| 95 AE | Archipelago War between Varsilia and the Corsair Princes. |
| 104 AE | An anonymous adventurer and sage in Varannar finds an ancient Imperial contraption that allows him to see distant lands. He realizes that the Horrors are gone from Andoria. This knowledge is lost for now, but will resurface some years later. |
| 112 AE | Priests and Seers of Tol build shrines in remote areas. Their servants claim the God of the Dead is now awake and will work to restore the balance and eradicate the undead from Varannar. Formerly, Tol had been considered an evil deity. |
| 113 AE | Queen Simarië of Ilmara disappears without a trace during her pilgrimage to Orogg. Her young daughter Hirgalande ascends to the throne. |
| 114 AE | The Shattering of the Three. The Living Gods of Ilmara disagree on how to deal with Tol and his followers. Eventually this causes the Church of The Three to divide, and civil war in Ilmara seems unavoidable. |
| 115 AE | Varsilian traditionalists attack the weakened shrines and temples of the Three, calling for a return to the old Imperial Faith of the Eleven. Mercian troops deploy on the Ilmaran border. The Kingdom of Ilmara is on the verge of collapse. |
| 116 AE | Queen Hirgalande rallies all different Ilmaran factions and repels the Mercian invaders. She unites all faiths and establishes the Hirganian Pantheon, including Tol, the Three and the Eleven. This is accepted by all sides and finally brings religious peace to the Exiled Kingdoms. |
| 119 AE | Priests of Tol destroy the evil spirits inhabiting Mount Orogg. |

| 159 AE | Major slave revolt in Tharkûl. After months of chaos, several Mercian Legions arrive from Varannar and restore order, but hundreds of Varannari escape to live free in the wild forests of Archaelund, like they once did in Varannar. |
| 161 AE | A mostly intact Imperial Fortress is discovered at the eastern side of the Spear Mountains. The Mae’Ran Varsilian noble family begins repairing it and brings colonists to build the town of Galadir. Geldryn natives consider it a profanation and become restless. |

| 175 AE | Rare and valuable Imperial artifacts and records are discovered in Galadir, and the valleys beyond it seem to be fertile and rich. This has a large pull effect for new colonists arriving from Varannar, and Galadir begins to grow quickly. |
| 177 AE | All the Geldryn Nedolen and clan elders meet, forming the Great Council in their Sanctuary of the Worm (on the Imperial ruins of Tasgadir). They begin making preparations for war with the Exiles. |
| 178 AE | Second Geldryn War. A chaotic army of over 30,000 furious Geldryn crosses the Ethryn river threatening all Exiles in the Southern March. Even if greatly outnumbered, the Exiles defeat them at Griffin Pass thanks to the tactical advantage of their archers and battlemages. Many Geldryn clans surrender to humans. All the remaining wild Geldryn cross the Ethryn and settle on Ilbatramir. |
| 180 AE | The victory over the Geldryn calls for a mass arrival of colonists that settle on the rich Ethryn Valley and Galadir, which is becoming the richest town in the Marches. |

| 204 AE | Third Geldryn War. The Geldryn council of elders chooses a war-leader called the Night Prophet to lead an army of nearly 80,000 Geldryn against the human invaders. They raze Tarendos and then cross the Ethryn, destroy Cyndor and besiege Galadir, trying to excavate tunnels to make the town collapse. |
| 205 AE | The Exiled Lords raise an army nearly 12,000 strong and manage to break the siege of Galadir, at a great cost. The Geldryn army is divided in two forces, and then defeated. Nearly 50,000 Geldryn are slain, the rest flee over the Ethryn back to Ilbatramir. |
| 206 AE | The Ethryn River is fortified with towers and castles, and Cyndor is rebuilt. |
| 207 AE | The Geldryn clans send emissaries and meet the Mae’Ran Lord of Galadir. A peace treaty is signed between humans and Geldryn, establishing the Ethryn River as border. Many traditionalists see this treaty as a betrayal to their legacy. |
| 209 AE | Once more a horde of mighty monsters comes out of the Wounded Lands. The fortifications resist but one of the Twin Towers is destroyed. |
| 212 AE | Nastül Tarendos defies the peace treaty with the Geldryn and crosses the Ethryn to rebuild his family domain deep into Geldryn territory. Many traditionalists join him. |

They reveal the location of the ancient Imperial port of Anthur, and offer their assistance to conquer it from the monsters inhabiting it.
